Bringing Lifestyle Medicine to Rural Communities
“I made a promise to my mom that I would pursue research and a medical degree to end suffering within our people and within our Native American segments, and also the Athabaskan people here in Colorado that are my bloodlines.” - Nancy Rae Kochis
This short film features Lifestyle Medicine program's first graduate student as she takes her education into a rural Colorado community to pass on her knowledge to remote populations.
MSU Denver’s first Lifestyle Medicine graduate takes her education into a rural Colorado community to pass on her knowledge to remote populations. Nancy started @herbalgardenwellness, a community focused health and wellness non-profit that provides opportunity to contribute as one member to the greater good of the community. In August of 2020 we traveled to Colorado for the latest installment of The Lifestyle Medicine Story Project, a collaboration with our friends at @aclifemed. This story focused on an alumnus combining her traditional knowledge with Lifestyle Medicine principles to serve rural Colorado.
